No, it wasn’t an April Fools Joke! On April 2, 2021, Netflix announced that Rege-Jean Page (who played main character Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings in the first season) is not going to make an appearance in Bridgerton Season 2. Fans of the series are very disappointed, to say the very least. So what can fans expect from the second season? Keep reading to find out! From the Bridgerton cast to possible spoilers, here’s what we know so far about Bridgerton Season 2 on Netflix.
Bridgerton Season 2: What We Know So Far
First things first. Will there even be a Bridgerton Season 2? Yes! We know that because Netflix formally announced it on January 21, 2021. Netflix has also announced that Season 2 will be available to stream beginning March 25, 2022.
Shonda Rhimes, producer of Bridgerton, has also revealed that they’ve already started working on seasons three and four.
Bridgerton Season 2 Spoilers
The Netflix series is based on a series of romance novels written by Julia Quinn. While the first Bridgerton novel (called The Duke and I) and first season of the Netflix series primarily focuses on Simon and Daphne Bridgerton, the second novel (called The Viscount Who Loved Me) focuses on Daphne’s brother, Anthony Bridgerton. So it’s fair to assume that the second season of Bridgerton will primarily focus on Anthony and his continued struggle between his duty to his title (and all that it entails) and finding true love. Which brings me to new cast members to the series…..
Bridgerton Season 2 Cast
As I mentioned above, Rege-Jean Page’s character, the Duke of Hastings, will not be appearing in season 2. However, there are several new characters that will be introduced in the second season. In the novel, Anthony Bridgerton’s love interest is named Kate Sheffield. However, her character in the Netflix series will be named Kate Sharma instead (played by Simone Ashley). Kate’s younger sister Edwina will also be appearing in the Netflix series and will be played by Charithra Chandran. Likewise, Edwina and Kate’s mom, Mary (played by Shelley Conn) will also make an appearance. There will also be a new character introduced in the second season who does not appear in the book. That character will be played by Rupert Young.
And last but not least, Calam Lynch will play Theo Sharpe, a printer’s assistant.
For the time being, there isn’t a trailer yet for the second season of Bridgerton. But stay tuned, I will update this article as soon as that info is released! In the meantime, you can read my Bridgerton parents guide here. It turned out to be very controversial and you can see why by reading the comments. A Bridgerton spinoff has also been announced. It will be a prequel and focus on a young Queen Charlotte. Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury will also be making appearances.

Sounds great. I will be watching it when it comes out.
