Are you looking for a family friendly restaurant in Tucson, Arizona? As a parent of a 3 year old child, going out to eat at a restaurant can be hit or miss. So when we do go out to eat, there are a number of things we take into account: (1) Friendly Atmosphere, (2) Kid Friendly Menu, and (3) Delicious Food. Over the past weekend, we found a restaurant that met all three of our criteria: Prep & Pastry.
Prep & Pastry: A Family Friendly Restaurant in Tucson, Arizona
Prep and Pastry is a restaurant in Tucson that serves breakfast, lunch, and brunch. The original location is in the Campbell and Ft. Lowell area, but they recently expanded and opened a new location on the east side of Tucson, off Grant Rd. My family and I were invited to experience the new location and its menu and we loved it. The restaurant itself is very inviting, beginning with the natural light from the windows that encompass the restaurant.
We started off with a churro cronut. It looked as good as it tasted, and between the three of us, it didn’t last very long! I didn’t think it could get any better than the churro cronut, but I was wrong.
We were very pleased with the options on the kids menu as well as the price. I took a picture of it so that everyone can get an idea of the options that are available. My son isn’t really a picky eater – he mostly likes the basics. But if he had to pick a favorite food, it would be, without a doubt, peanut butter. So imagine how excited he was when we told him that a PB&J sandwich was on the menu. Not only did the sandwich come with french fries, but it also came with watermelon, banana slices, and blueberries.
Below is a picture I took of my son’s PB&J. All this, and for $5! While it’s important to have a kid friendly menu, it’s also important that adults also have options. The menu listed healthy options as well as options for those who feel like splurging. I usually order pancakes for breakfast, but when I saw the S’mores French Toast listed on the menu, I had to give it a try. And I’m still salivating over it! Between the cronut and the S’mores French Toast, I didn’t have room left for anything else 🙂
Now who’s ready for breakfast? For those of you who haven’t experienced the food at either location, it’s definitely worth the trip. If you do go, treat yourself with a cronut at the very least 😉
Know Before You Go
While this is primarily written from a parent’s perspective, I think it’s important to note that Prep & Pastry is an excellent option for anyone, regardless of whether or not you have a child with you. There appeared to be a diverse clientele, from families, to retirees, to young couples. Also, the restaurant was definitely getting more crowded as we ate our breakfast. When we arrived there at 8 am, several tables were available. However, by the time we left at around 8:40 am, most of the tables were already occupied by patrons. So I would definitely recommend going as early as possible in the day to avoid waiting. And last but not least, if you aren’t able to find parking in front of the restaurant, know that there is parking available behind the restaurant.
