Halloween, including trick-or-treating, should be a fun time for both children and adults. However, safety should always be taken into consideration when making plans for Halloween festivities, especially when you have younger children. Every year, Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, Arizona, hosts a special event called Howl-o-Ween, which provides a safe and fun environment for those who want to participate in Halloween family fun!
When my son was 2 years old, my husband and I took him treat-or-treating at Reid Park Zoo’s special Halloween event called Howl-o-Ween. It was great way to introduce him to Halloween and take him trick-or-treating in a safe and fun environment. Plus, we love Reid Park Zoo and think the zoo does a great job in making events special for families. Not only are costumes encouraged, but there are treat stations set up through the zoo. It’s a very low key event. Everyone is there to have a good time, and there are several Halloween decorations throughout. We had a great time, and plan to go back this year!
This year, Howl-o-Ween will occur on October 28th, October 29th, and October 30th, from 6-8 pm. Tickets can be purchased on the zoo’s website and it’s best to purchase tickets in advance, especially since the event has sold out in the past. We are extremely excited to take our son back this year, especially now that he’s a little older!

I’d love to take my children to experience the Howl-o-Ween event at the zoo. We’ve never attended before so I’m sure they’d enjoy it because animals and candy are two of their favorite things!
