Get ready for some holiday cheer! Santa has arrived at The Gaslight Music Hall in Oro Valley for holiday fun in the form of Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree, along with characters like Johnny Christmas!
My family and I were recently invited to see a performance of Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree for ourselves. We enjoyed it so much that we were motivated to dust off our holiday decorations later than afternoon, and start decorating for Christmas.
There’s nothing like holiday tunes to get me in the holiday spirit. And the holiday tunes were plenty during Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree. I’ve previously written how much my family and I enjoyed Gaslight Music Hall’s performance of Beach Blanket Be-Bop, and I was happy to see that Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree had a similar atmosphere: catchy tunes, audience interaction, and deadpan jokes 🙂
The performance was a nice mixture of classics like Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Feliz Navidad and pop music like All I Want for Christmas is You. One of the performers even makes an appearance as Elvis, singing Blue Christmas.
Is Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree Kid Friendly?
Absolutely. This is a performance that the whole family will enjoy. Children are asked to come on stage during the performance and play instruments like tambourines. My son can be shy at times, so I was surprised that he actually went on the stage and played a tambourine. The performers also sing songs like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Jingle Bells, which appeal especially to children. And for me, it was a flashback to my childhood.
The highlight of the performance for my son, though, was Santa. Santa hands out candy canes to the children during the show, and he’s available for photos afterward. My son was extremely excited to have his picture taken with Santa, and from a parents standpoint, it was an added bonus that I didn’t need to wait in a long line to have his photo taken with Santa.
As a local Tucsonan, I’m happy that we have Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree and the Gaslight Music Hall available as family friendly entertainment. It’s a wonderful way to spend an afternoon or evening with your family, especially during the holidays. Food is also available for purchase, which adds to the overall experience. Performances are ongoing until December 23, 2016, and this is a show that shouldn’t be missed.
*My family and I were guests of Gaslight Music Hall in hopes that I would share my experience. As always, all opinions are my own.
