Star Wars: Galaxy Edge has officially made its debut in Disneyland and Disney World. I’ve been a fan of the Star Wars franchise for decades, and I’m happy that my son is following suit as a Star Wars fan. I love there there are several experiences at Disney World for those of us who are fans, including Star Wars rides.
9 Best Star Wars Experiences at Disney World
- Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple
- Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge (aka Star Wars Land)
- Rides in Star Wars Land
- Character Experiences
- Star Tours – The Adventure Continues
- Photo Opportunities
- Star Wars A Galactic Spectacular Fireworks
- Star Wars Dessert Party
- Star Wars Galactic Nights
1. Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple
If your children are between the ages of 4-12 years old and Star Wars fans, then you’ll want to make sure you sign them up to participate in the Jedi Training Academy in Hollywood Studios called Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple. You’ll also want to make sure you sign up first thing in the morning since this is very popular. Essentially, kids are able to train to be a Jedi and battle Darth Vader and Kylo Ren. It’s also included in the general price of admission to Hollywood Studios so there’s no reason to not take advantage of it. If you’re not certain if your child is ready for it, you might want to show them youtube videos beforehand to prepare them. My only wish is that adults could participate, too!
2. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Galaxy’s Edge, aka Star Wars Land, is the latest addition to Hollywood Studios. There, you can build a droid or a lightsaber, eat galactic treats out of this world, and experience the rides. Speaking of which…..
3. Rides in Star Wars Land
There are 2 rides in Star Wars Land – Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. I’ve been on both rides and I’ll admit I was underwhelmed with Smugglers Run. Rise of the Resistance, on the other hand, is an extremely fun ride that will truly make you feel like you are part of the battle between good versus evil. Click here for my friend Tania’s tips on how to secure a boarding pass for Rise of the Resistance at Disney World!
4. Character Experiences
One of the best Star Wars experiences at Disney World are the character experiences. Guests can have their pictures taken with several Star Wars characters in Hollywood Studios, like BB-8, Chewbacca, and Darth Vader. Chewbacca and Darth Vader can be found in Launch Bay, and are worth the visit if you are a Star Wars fan. Keep in mind, though, that the characters stay true to their personality. For that reason, if you have a child that may be scared, you may want to avoid Darth Vader. My son is now at an age where he understands that Darth Vader is just being, well, Darth Vader, but there was a time when we didn’t stop by to see him. My son is a huge fan, though, of BB-8 and Chewbacca.
5. Star Tours – The Adventure Continues
Star Tours is another ride that is Star Wars-themed. It’s a 3D simulator, and children must be at least 40 inches to ride. This has always been a long-time favorite of mine, since it’s been around at Disneyland ever since I can remember. But it’s been updated to keep up with the new Star Wars movies. And for me, this is a must-ride during any trip to Disney.
6. Photo Opportunities
There are several photo opportunities in Hollywood Studios that are inspired by Star Wars. And the kid in all of us can take part in them! My son loves hamming it for the camera, so we’ve taken advantage of them whenever we can.
7. Star Wars A Galactic Spectacular Fireworks
It’s not every day you can see Star Wars-themed fireworks called Star Wars A Galactic Spectacular Fireworks! To read my comprehensive review the fireworks, you can click here. But if you are a Star Wars fan, you definitely don’t want to miss it. It’s also included in the price of general admission to Hollywood Studios and it’s a great way to end the evening.
8. Star Wars Dessert Party
One of these days, I’ve love to experience the Star Wars Dessert Party at Hollywood Studios. It does cost extra, but it includes reserved viewing of the Star Wars fireworks. It also includes Star Wars themed desserts and drinks.
9. Star Wars Galactic Nights
Star Wars Galactic Nights is an exclusive event that usually occurs once a year. So timing is everything with this one! But if you are a die hard Star Wars fan, this is one that deserves to be on the bucket list. My friend Renee has had the opportunity to attend Galactic Nights, and she has written about it here.
