Are you wondering if there are adult makeovers at Disney World? If so, keep reading and get ready to get your glam on and find your inner princess. Or inner superhero. Or even inner villain! I recently attended the media preview for Toy Story Land as part of the TravelingMom Network and I was chosen to participate in the character couture experience. As a guest of Disney, the character couture experience was complimentary. However, all opinions are my own!
Adult Makeovers at Disney World: All About the Character Couture Experience
I’m the only female in a household of males. I spend my mornings attempting to help my son build with LEGOs. And on the weekends, you can usually find me wearing my “I Can’t Adult Today” t-shirt. However, I do like dressing up on occasion, and what better place than Disney World? Kids can have princess, knight, and pirate makeovers thanks to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and the Pirates League. But what about adult makeovers at Disney World? Adults can now join in the fun! Keep reading to find out all about Disney World’s character couture experience!
Locations
There are four different locations that offer the character couture experiences. They are all salons located at Disney World resorts and guests can book an appointment by calling (407) 939-7727.
*Ship Shape Salon (Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts)
*Salon by the Springs (Disney’s Wilderness Lodge)
*Ivy Trellis Salon (Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort)
*La Vida Salon (Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort)
My character couture makeover occurred at the Ship Shape Salon. Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort is one of my favorite resorts at Disney World, and this is just another reason why!
Prices and Packages
There are three different packages available, depending on your budget:
*Storybook Style
The Storybook Style costs $80/adult and $50/child (yes, children can participate in the character couture experience, too!). It includes a Classic Character-Inspired hairstyle.
*Magical Makeover
The Magical Makeover costs $105/adult and $75/child. It includes a Classic Character-Inspired hairstyle as well as make-up for eyes and lips only. Fake eyelashes can also be included in this package! My package included the Magical Makeover and I felt that it was truly magical 🙂
*Timeless Transformation
The Timeless Transformation costs $120/adult and $90/child. It includes everything listed above, as well as Jamberry nails.
The Cactus Chronicles Tip: The Magical Makeover and Timeless Transformation do not include foundation, so be sure to wear foundation prior to your appointment. Or at least bring some with you to apply to your skin before your makeover.
Disney Inspired Characters
Here’s where the fun really starts. I asked one of the stylists if guests can dress up as any character. Her response? The stylists create looks inspired by characters. Costumes aren’t necessary. For example, do you want to look like Minnie Mouse? Red shorts and a polka dot shirt will do. Or how about a princess? Something as simple as a blue shirt (inspired by Cinderella) will work. My Disney inspired character? Snow White! My stylist Scully paired it with a cute Minnie bow, and voila, Snow White inspired by Minnie Mouse was born! Scully also asked if I wanted subtle or bold makeup. I decided to go with bold 🙂 This is one of the things I love about the character couture experience at Disney World – it’s all about creativity, whether you are inspired by princesses, Disney characters like Minnie Mouse, superheroes, or even villains.
Keep Comfort in Mind
Chances are, you’ll be spending a lot of time walking inside the Disney Parks. Prior to the character couture experience, I couldn’t decide on a particular outfit. However, I knew I’d be walking a lot, and I wanted to be comfortable. As a result, I chose to wear shorts paired with a Snow White shirt I bought at a store located in Disney Springs, called DisneyStyle (it can also be purchased online on shopDisney). And I’m glad that I made that decision. If you’re looking for something simple and affordable, I highly recommend Disney-inspired shirts that are similar to what I wore. DisneyStyle and shopDisney both have several options, like Ariel, Belle, and Cinderella. However, as I mentioned above, even a basic t-shirt will do!
Other Disney Inspired Character Looks
There are so many options when it comes to the character couture experience. Here are some of my fellow TravelingMoms inspired by some of their favorite Disney characters:
Patty from No Guilt Life and Tania from Lola Lambchops dressed up as Woody and Buzz Lightyear!
Renee from Tales of One Mom’s Mess dressed up as Gaston!
Nasreen Stump from ramblingstump channeling Ursula!
