I hope everyone had a great day relaxing. We spent the day eating and swimming in the pool 🙂 I also spent the morning trying to recreate some of the 4th of July inspired snacks I saw on Pinterest. And I’m pretty pleased with how it all turned out, with the exception of the cupcakes. I bought a new tool that I wanted to try out and that was a major fail. Luckily I had some basic frosting left, so I just went with that.
The big hit of the morning were the dipped pretzels. They were extremely easy to make, albeit time consuming (each layer had to dry before putting on the additional layers). But they were so easy to make, that I’ll probably make them again for other major holidays, just with different colors.
I’m all about giving credit where credit is due – and if you want to see the recipe and see the original creation that inspired me, you can click on the following link:
My son likes Captain America so when I saw a Captain America inspired fruit tray on Pinterest, I thought I’d also give it a try. I liked that all I had to do was arrange the fruit. Basically, no cooking or baking was needed 😉 And here’s how it turned out. It was also a big hit – most of it was eaten by the end of the afternoon. We also had whipped cream for those who wanted to eat the strawberries with whipped cream.
I found the Captain America tray on Pinterest and it was linked to the following website:
A final picture with the fruit tray, pretzels, and cupcakes all together before they were consumed, lol. My husband grilled hot dogs and hamburgers but by that time, I was exhausted and ready to jump in the pool 🙂
Speaking of the pool, I did take a few pictures poolside 🙂 It was the perfect day for it. We had rainy weather last week so I was worried it would rain today. But we ended up having clear skies.
And with that, I hope everyone has a great day. And yes, that’s my husband hiding behind the “friendly shark.” 😉
