I love the nighttime entertainment at Disneyland. But I don’t love camping out for spots beforehand just to get a good view of the performances. One of my favorite nighttime entertainment shows at Disneyland is the World of Color, at Disney California Adventure. My family and I were able to snag tickets to attend the World of Color Dessert Party during our recent visit to Disneyland. Is the World of Color Dessert Party worth it despite the additional cost? Is the World of Color Dessert Party Worth It?
The World of Color is an elaborate nighttime fountain show at Disney California Adventure and it’s very popular (for good reason). To even get a good (standing view of it), you need to reserve it by joining a virtual queue. The virtual queue doesn’t cost extra (unlike lightning lanes in Genie+) and it’s available at noon (the day of) via the official Disneyland app. Often times, the virtual queue is completely reserved within minutes of becoming available. It’s one of my favorite nighttime shows at Disneyland so I was excited to hear about the World of Color Dessert Party.
The Dessert Party
The World of Color Dessert party is a premium experience that enables guests to view the World of Color show in reserved seating areas. Tickets can be reserved 60 days in advance but they sell out quickly. As a result, if this is something you really want to experience, you’ll want to keep track of the day on your calendar. But, if your desired date is sold out, keep checking periodically. Some guests might cancel as the date gets closer, freeing up the tickets.
What Does the World of Color Dessert Party Include?
The World of Color Dessert Party includes reserved seating (with a table and chairs) and an assortment of desserts and cheeses. It also includes two alcoholic beverages for adults (21 and older), and unlimited soft drinks as well as bottled water. Everyone in my family (from the kids to the adults) loved it. World of Color Dessert Party Tips
While dates vary throughout the year, there are usually two performances per night: the first seating and the second seating. My family opted for the first seating. The show starts approximately one hour after the reservation. We had a table to ourselves since there were 6 people in our party, but the website notes that one party might have to sit with other parties. So that’s something to keep in mind when you are making your reservation.
As for the check-in process, guests check-in at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. The check-in line was relatively long, so we gave ourselves ample time. Once we sat down, our server quickly brought us our desserts and drinks. The World of Color show starts approximately one hour after the reservation time, so if you have younger kids in your party, this could be more of a challenge to wait. Also, between waiting in line for check-in and waiting for the performance, it could be a time consuming process. So if you are limited with time and prefer going on rides, then this is an experience you might want to skip.
However, as someone who likes premium experiences and the nighttime entertainment at Disneyland, I thought this was worth the splurge for my family. But as always, the answer as to whether or not the dessert party is worth it is a subjective one.
