If so, then I highly recommend the latest murder mystery dinner now playing at the Gaslight Music Hall called Murder at the Copacabana, A Mystery North of Havana! I received complimentary tickets in exchange for a review of Murder at the Copacabana but as always, all opinions are my own. Keep reading to find out why I enjoyed Murder at the Copacabana as well as the opportunity to win tickets!
MURDER AT THE COPACABANA, A MYSTERY NORTH OF HAVANA!
I’m officially addicted to the murder mystery dinners at the Gaslight Music Hall! It all started with Till Death Do Us Part, the Gaslight Music Hall’s previous murder mystery dinner. Like Till Death Do Us Part, Murder at the Copacabana is written by Mike Yarema, a long time favorite performer of mine at the Gaslight Theatre. This time, murder is afoot in a steamy nightclub in Havana and guests can help solve the mystery. There’s Charlie Hall who plays Pedro Cubano, Jesus Limon as Frank, Jacqueline Stewart as Lola Jefa, Erin Thompson and Samantha Cormier as Charra, Gabi Urias as Carmen Novarro, Randall McDonald as Rico Azteca and Detective Serpentine, Dennis Tamblyn as Max Dinsdale, and Daniel “Sly” Skpetsky who plays the piano.
Someone is killed at the nightclub and it’s your job, as the audience, to help solve the murder. Was it a love triangle gone wrong? Or a business relationship gone sour? Clues are shared throughout the dinner, culminating in the final reveal. The murderer isn’t the same person for all the performances, so you can always give it another try if you guessed incorrectly the first time around.
You might be wondering – what’s included in the murder mystery dinner? As I mentioned above, it includes a three course meal. Guests first receive a salad, then the main entree which consists of green chili chicken enchiladas*, and finally banana foster as dessert. And that doesn’t include the unlimited popcorn and the chips.
*For those who have dietary restrictions, the Gaslight Music Hall offers alternatives like veggie enchiladas.
The Gaslight Music Hall and its performers succeed in making you feel like you are in a Latin nightclub. During the dinner, the performers also sing and dance and I LOVE that audience participation is encouraged. There’s also a fun game that’s played midway through the dinner, similar to musical chairs.

IS MURDER AT THE COPACABANA KID FRIENDLY?
While I largely focus on family friendly entertainment on my blog, I also enjoy an evening out with my husband. Murder at the Copacabana is not scary, but it does have mature themes. As a result, I think it’s best to leave the kids at home with a family member or babysitter. My parents watched my son and I think it was best for all of us!
