The Kissing Booth 3 is now available to stream on Netflix. But is it appropriate for kids, such as tweens? I’m answering that question and more in my spoiler free parent movie review. With a TV-14 rating that includes mostly profanity and some sexual content, here’s what parents need to know.
The Kissing Booth 3: A Parents Guide
In the third installment to The Kissing Booth series on Netflix, besties Elle and Lee are back, along with Elle’s boyfriend and Lee’s big brother, Noah. The Kissing Booth 3 is also supposed to be the final chapter in the series, although never say never. For those of you who have watched the first two movies, you’ll know that Elle and Lee have been BFFs since they were children. In the first movie, Elle (played by Joey King) fell in love with Noah (played by Jacob Elordi), which caused a lot of drama between her and Lee (played by Joel Courtney). In the sequel, Noah went to college at Harvard while Elle and Lee wrapped up their senior year in high school. There was a lot of long distance relationship drama, but it ended with Elle having to make a decision as to whether or not she should go to Harvard with Noah, or UC Berkeley with Lee. This third movie starts off where the second movie left off. It’s time for Elle to make a decision. The first movie had a lot of sexual content and violence and the second movie mostly had sexually suggestive language. What about this third movie, though? Here’s what parents need to know about The Kissing Booth 3 age rating.
It’s Rated TV-14
The movie is rated TV-14 which means that it contains some material that many parents would find unsuitable for children under 14 years of age. For example, it’s usually strong coarse language, intense violence, intense sexual situations, and/or intensely suggestive dialogue that determine a TV-14 rating. Here, there is profanity and some sexual content, but more about that below.
Violence
Other than a character punching another character, there really isn’t any violence in this movie. As I discussed in my review for The Kissing Booth 2, Noah has struggled with anger issues in the past. However, this third installment shows that he is in better control of his anger and overall, more mature.
Sexual Content
There isn’t any nudity in The Kissing Booth 3. There is one sex scene but private body parts aren’t shown. There are also some implied sex scenes, but again, nothing graphic.
Language
Some of the characters say curse words like “b*tch,” and “a**h*le.” However, most of the profanity occurs during the bloopers/deleted scenes at the end of the movie.
Overall Thoughts
I enjoyed The Kissing Booth 3, but I thought Elle and Noah lacked chemistry (Joey King and Jacob Elordi used to date in real life but broke up, and unfortunately, their lack of chemistry translates onto the screen).
Nevertheless, I did enjoy the storyline and the soundtrack. I mean, any time a Cyndi Lauper song is played in the background, I’m hooked. LOL. Do Elle and Noah eventually end up together? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out 🙂 But, as someone who has watched all three movies, I’ve enjoyed watching these characters grow into adulthood. Plus, there’s always Molly Ringwald who plays Noah and Lee’s mom 🙂
With that, I’m off to listen to some Cyndi Lauper music.
About The Kissing Booth 3
It’s the summer before Elle heads to college, and she’s facing the hardest decision of her life: whether to move across the country with her dreamy boyfriend Noah or fulfill her lifelong promise to go to college with her BFF Lee. Whose heart will Elle break?
